Krista McCain MSOM, L.Ac.
Krista has a Master of Science in Oriental Medicine with a BS in Nutrition. She received her degree from the Midwest College of Oriental Medicine. Krista spent two years of her graduate program interning under Dr. Anne Kuhry, working with the Sisters of Saint Francis.
Krista uses a combination of techniques in her practice. She utilizes the more well known therapies of acupuncture, acupressure and herbal medicine. But, she is also trained in bodywork such as cupping, guasha and tuina. So don't let a fear of needles deter you from making an appointment. Krista provides treatment options which respect your comfort level.
Acupuncture and Chinese Herbal Medicine have a documented 3000 year history in treating all types of health complaints. In the US, The National Institutes of Health recognize that acupuncture can manage some specific ailments such as: postoperative and chemotherapy nausea, nausea of pregnancy, postoperative dental pain, addiction, stroke rehabilitation, headaches, menstrual cramps, musculoskeletal pain, fibromyalgia and asthma. It is exciting to see Western Medicine begin to research and embrace the effectiveness of healthcare systems such as Traditional Chinese Medicine.
Krista enjoys working as a generalist, but also has a particular interest in preventative healthcare, complaints of aging, eye complaints and mental health concerns. Equally important to her, though, are the subjective, sub clinical aches and pains that might be overlooked at your doctor's appointment. She operates with the knowledge that mild complaints, when not addressed, may turn into major conditions. Please contact Krista directly for questions or appointments at 414-379-3726.
